Suffering from Allergies or Asthma? Many people turn to alternative therapies and complementary medicine for allergies/asthma relief. I was diagnosed with asthma when I was 16yr old and every since then I have taken steroids and inhalers. About 5 years ago I decided to make a change in my lifestyle by eating healthier and excerising. Three years ago I added Therapuetic Massage Therapy to my lifestyle to help relieve stress which therefore relieve tensed muscles to help me breathe. Those that suffer from allergies/asthma know they have to manage their asthma for the rest of their lives, they would like to reduce their reliance on the medications traditionally prescribed for asthma, particularly steroids… including me, not finding the relieve they want from traditional medicine. I recently added daily supplements that is helping with my allergies and the inflammation caused by Asthma. Coconut oil, Vitamin C, and Magnesium.

Massage therapy for Asthma, another mind-body technique, brings relief to some people with asthma. As a Massage therapist I will work on your neck and ribcage to release tension in the muscles that facilitate breathing. “Studies have shown massage therapy can help some asthma sufferers in terms of balancing muscles and improving lung function,” says Amanda Lien, ND, a naturopathic physician. Additionally, massage therapy may alleviate some of the anxiety you feel about having breathing problems.
